Welcome to SeoulMates! We are a dating platform designed to connect Koreans and foreigners interested in cross-cultural relationships. These terms govern your use of our service.

You must be at least 18 years old to use SeoulMates.

Personal Information:

• Name, age, gender, and date of birth
• Email address and phone number
• Location data (city, region)
• Photos and video introductions 

• Optional third-party account verification (e.g., KakaoTalk), used only to confirm authenticity. We do not access private messages or contacts.

Usage Data:

• Messages and chat history
• Match and like activity
• App usage patterns and analytics
• Dating preferences and interests

Verification Data (Optional):

• Optional identity verification data (such as government-issued ID or selfie verification), used only for safety and fraud prevention. Verification is voluntary and not required to use core app features.

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your profile
• Match you with compatible users
• Verify your identity for safety
• Process payments and subscriptions
• Improve our service and algorithms
• Send notifications about matches and messages
• Prevent fraud and enforce our policies

We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

Personal Information Protection Act Compliance:

• All data is stored on AWS servers in the Seoul region.                                 
• We obtain explicit consent before collecting personal data. 
• You can request access, correction, or deletion of your data

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Account data is retained while an account is active. When an account is deleted, personal data is removed or anonymized, except where retention is required by law (e.g., transaction records retained for up to 3 years).

We may share your data with:

• Other users: Your profile, photos, and messages
• Service providers: AWS (hosting), RevenueCat (payments), analytics providers.                                            
• Law enforcement: When required by law or to prevent harm

We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and data
• Export your data
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Withdraw consent at any time
• File a complaint with data protection authorities

SeoulMates is strictly intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that an underage user has provided personal information, we will immediately delete the data and terminate the account.

To keep SeoulMates safe:

• Report inappropriate behavior or harassment immediately
• Never share financial information with other users
• Meet in public places for first dates
• Verify user identity before meeting. 

• Do not send money to users you haven't met in person

We have zero tolerance for scammers, catfishing, and harassment. Violators will be permanently banned.

SeoulMates offers premium subscriptions processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

• Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled 24hrs before period ends
• No refunds for partial subscription periods
• Prices may change with 30 days notice
• Promotional offers may have specific terms To cancel, manage subscriptions in your device settings.

We may suspend or terminate accounts for:

• Violating our Terms of Service
• Harassment or abusive behavior
• Fraudulent activity or scamming
• Creating fake profiles
• Underage use (under 18)

You may delete your account anytime from Profile Settings. Per PIPA, some data may be retained for 3

years.

We may update these terms periodically. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
